May Trip Part A

Rand and I celebrated our 33rd

on an Eastern trip to visit family. First stop Shirl and Tom in Anniston, Alabama.

Learned about y'all, Southern hospitality, Cracker Barrel, the difference between Alabama vs Auburn football teams. We saw the preparations of a wedding reception and discovered the southern tradition of having separate bride's and groom's cakes. Guess whose this is?

 

We hung out with Tom and Shirl, rode bikes along the Chief Ladiga trail,

and visited the Space Center in Huntsville.

Tom flew in these over Viet Nam.

 

 I drove astronaut, James Irwin, in Salt Lake City when he visited his alma mater, East High. Dad let us borrow one of his Cadillacs. Mr Irwin sent me a signed picture of him on the moon!

Nephew, Christian Ryser, entertained us in Nashville, along with friend Jennifer.
